Visiting this website

Our web server processes technical access data to deliver the pages you request. Server logs may record your IP address, request time, requested address, response status, browser information and referring page, if supplied. These details support website operation, troubleshooting and security. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, functioning website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

You do not need an account. Our page code handles article searches, topic filters and quiz answers in your browser. We do not set our own tracking cookies for these features. Search terms can appear in the page address and therefore in access data when that address is subsequently requested. Fonts and editorial images are served from our own server.

Google AdSense and cookies

We use Google AdSense to help fund this website through advertising. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to select ads based on earlier visits to this or other websites. Google's advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to show interest-based ads informed by those visits.

Contacting us and sharing pages

If you email us, we receive your email address and message so we can handle your request. Processing is based on our legitimate interest in answering inquiries; requests relating to a contract are handled under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR.

The WhatsApp sharing button is an external link. Clicking it opens WhatsApp with the page title and address as prepared text; you decide whether to send a message. WhatsApp's processing is covered by its privacy policy. “Copy link” writes the page address to your clipboard or displays it for you to copy manually.

Retention and your rights

Our server logs are configured for weekly rotation with four retained archive files. Together with the current file, this typically covers up to approximately five weeks. Email inquiry retention depends on the request-handling purpose and any legal obligations. You can request specific retention information using the contact address above. Data held by Google is subject to the periods and controls described in Google's linked information.

Subject to the applicable legal conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction and data portability.
